Comparing and Contrasting with 4th graders!
Cats and Dogs

There are many characteristics that make cats and dogs have similarities and differences. For example, both are household pets, quadrupeds, mammals, carnivores, and they may have fleas too. Likewise, they have fur as well as they are hunters, territorials , and good humans' friends.
However, cats and dogs are also different. In fact, cats are felines. They meow and they tend to be lonesome creatures. Furthermore, they are nocturnal and difficult to train. They usually have 30 teeth, sprinters, and also retractable claws.
On the other hand, dogs have some features like canine, bark, loyal, day animals, and easy to train. They have 42 teeth. Moreover, they travel long distances, usually run and have extended paws. In summary, those are the differences between cats and dogs.
Plants and Animals

Plants and animals are similar and different too. For example both are living things. They are also creatures from nature. Likewise, they are born, grow, reproduce, and die. They have at least one cell. This grows, takes energy from the sun , and interacts with others. In summary, it is possible to see different types of plants and animals.
On one hand, plants are producers. This means that they make their own food. Furthermore, they make a process called photosynthesis, which means that they take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Plants cells have two different components in comparison to animals' cells. These cells have chloroplasts. It is important to keep in mind that plants are very importat in nature because they provide food for some animals, so they can live. However, the plants can not move by themselves.
On the other hand, animals are consumers. They depend on nature to live. They breathe oxygen and release carbon dioxide. These cells don't have cell walls and chlroplasts. In addition, animals have developed nervous system. Some animals need plants to live. These are hervibores and omnivores. Animals usually can move freely on their own.
Star Wars and Star Treck

Star Wars and Star Trek are action movies. Both are made in a galaxy, but they have adventures in other universes. The majority of these things show fantastic worlds. There also are rare creatures. The space shuttles are big and small. Finally, the two have more than one character..
Star Wars is in a galaxy far, far away from Earth. It may or may not happen in the future, or also nowadays. As it has been said before there are several characters. Those are Luck, Leya, Jan Solo, Darth Bather, among others. The most important space ship is called “The Millenary Hawk” that belongs to Jan Solo. They made the movies long time ago.
Star Trek is in this galaxy. It may happen in the future too. The characters of this movie are captain Kirk, Gamara, Mr. Spock among others. The most important space shuttle is called “The Enterprise” whose commander is captain Kirk. The movie and the TV series were made long time ago.
Gymnastics and Swimming

Gymnastics and swimming are sports. Likewise, they help you to burn calories, build muscle, and if you practice them constantly you will get a healthy body. Both involve a variety of exercises. Also, they are practiced by women and men. As a result, I could say that gymnastics and swimming have some things in common.
Gymnastics and swimming are also different because in the first one you do floor exercise, vault, uneven bars, pommel horse, still rings, among others. Swimming has water exercise and you need to wear a bathing suit while in gymnastics you have to wear a tight dress. Another difference is that swimming is safe for all ages. In conclusión, gymnastics and swimming are sports that have similarities and differences.
Books and iPads

An ipad and a book are tools to obtain knowledge, or find thousands of topics to learn, and have fun. You can use both for reading, and you may find them in almost any place.
A book is an amazing innovation . It is possible to work very easily. It is often rectangular. It has many pages that are printed, and a cover page that tells about the book. It also has a title and a variety of images. To see things that are in the book, you only have to choose one of them, open the page, and you will be ready to read it by yourself.
An ipad is a terrific invention. For using it you only need to be sure that it is loaded and is ready for all kinds of activities such as reading, playing , painting, watching movies, taking pictures, and listening to music. If you want more about something , get all the information with this tool. It is a touching device. All you have to do is put your fingers on the picture, or the title that you are interested in. In seconds it will show you everything. In other words you enter to a world of information.
Horse backriding and Soccer

Soccer and horseback riding are kinds of sports. Both need to wear specific garments as well as they are practiced outdoors. Sometimes you may compete to know who is the best. They have teams. People usually like to go and watch these competitions about these sports.
However, horsebackriding needs a special uniform and a horse and a saddle for the animal . It is not good to ride a horse in pavement because it may cause an injury to the person in case she or he falls down.
In the meantime soccer is a demanding sport that requires a lot of practice. It is necessary a ball to kick it and a group of people. In fact , it is a collective sport. That means that it is usually played in teams. Each one has a mínimum of 11 players, which have different positions and roles to do. The field is divided into two parts. Each one has a net to score points, and a referee is the one in charge of supervising that everything is fair and good. In conclusión, these two sports have many things in common, and some other differences.
