Human Beings and Being Humans: Two Different Ideas

If I had the possibility to sum up all my school life in a few words, without hesitating my answer would be: a big but worthy challenge. However, I do not simply mean it because all of the academic issues or friends and teachers; I mean that it was worthy because I was able to experience the difference between human beings and being humans with many people I met during this important stage of my life.

Although administration and general services people are not too close to students, they are one of the reasons why the school works perfectly. These people are the perfect example of service, love, dedication but most importantly: humanity. Their jobs are not always recognized by everyone in our community, yet like with teachers, we ought to thank them, because every single person of our school’s community is vital for it to work as synchronized as we know it. Every time I see any general service man working, the ladies in the cafeteria, corridors or classrooms, the personnel at the office or reception I can witness that no matter what job you have you are equally important to every other member of the school.

To all our loyal people from the service department, with all our sincere gratitude, the Scoop team wants to thank you for all the effort and energy you spend in order for our school to be as it is, perhaps you don’t wear a jumper and green sweater, but you can feel the pineapple love that we do (and sometimes even more than us). We have to learn as much as we can from you, for we all can tell that, more than just being humans, you are also humanity itself.

Today we are grateful to you for showing us that hard work at the end will always be totally worth it, and that no matter what we should never quit. You can not even begin to imagine the humongous weight you lift from our shoulders. Thank you for giving the best of you each and every single day. Thank you for inspiring us with your constant service, for setting the example of the true meaning of community.

Thank you for being humans instead of just being human beings.
