Shawn Peter Raul Mendes, most commonly known like Shawn Mendes only, is a Canadian singer, song writer, guitarist and pianist, he was born in Toronto the 8th of August 1998. He has Portuguese ascendance from his father’s side and British from his mother’s. Shawn entered the world of fame in 2013 and he hasn’t stopped scaling ever since, like many other artists nowadays, he became famous through social media, when he started to upload his own covers of different songs to his Vine account, he received millions of views and gained a great number of followers. Vine is a social media in which teens upload short clips, you get to follow people and like or share any video you like.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mendes was discovered by Andrew Gertler and he got into the Island Records discographic firm, it was with this firm that he created and launched his music in 2014. His first single, “Life of The party” reached the top 30 on Canada, New Zealand and the US besides being certified platinum and gold. His first studio album, Handwritten, debuted being the number one in both Canada and New Zealand and entered the first 20 albums on Australia, Ireland and the UK furthermore, it obtained positive commentaries from the critic, who gave recognition to the simplicity of the rhythms of the songs. In the Teen Choice Awards Shawn’s single, “Stitches” was nominated for best masculine artist song and in 2014 he won the award for favorite web musician.
